Welcome to Tuscaloosa Takedown Wrestling!

Tuscaloosa Takedown Wrestling Club is applying as a tax-exempt, charitable, educational organization

[IRS code Sec 501(c)(3)] with the purpose of promoting amateur youth wrestling.

We are dedicated to the development of young people in the Greater Tuscaloosa County area and it is our  intention to become the premier wrestling club in the state of Alabama and if God is for us, who can stand against us.

Tuscaloosa Takedown Wrestling Club believes that nothing prepares young athletes for overcoming the obstacles they'll face in life, like the sport of wrestling. Victory and defeat are great teachers when it comes to facing and overcoming life's most difficult challenges. We are committed to making the sport of wrestling fun and safe and creating an enduring positive impact on each of our athletes.

Ephesians 6:12
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Proverbs 27:17
Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

I started this wrestling club because while coaching on the high school level, my youngest son fell in love with the sport. Tuscaloosa didn't have a wrestling team for youth and I felt like they were missing out on one of the best all around sports ever created. My wife and I, prayed about it and we felt that God inspired this decision and the rest is history...

When my husband began coaching wrestling in high school, I honestly didn't know much about the sport. After going to the meets with he and the team, I instantly found a love for this sport. My youngest son loved it as well and began asking us if we would let him wrestle. I started looking for a team locally and came up empty. That is when we felt led to start this in our hometown. We truly enjoy it and believe this sport offers so much to youth. I love being a team mom and watching these kids excel on and off the mat.

Wrestling is a great sport for child development. The wrestlers learn quickly that what they put into the sport  is what they take out. There is no entitlement. I was raised in an area that being a wrestler means something. Teachers, parents, clergy, and the community knew what it means to say someone is a wrestler. I want to bring that opportunity to Tuscaloosa.

I have wrestled for 12 years, and coached for 6. I feel I add an additional element to our team that will help our kids, K through 12, compete on all levels. In our first season (2019) nearly 20 % of our wrestlers placed in the AAU State Tournament and/or made the All Alabama Wrestling Team. The feedback from the Parents was exceptional! LET’S GO GET IT!
